Mr. Burns served as Music Director and principal conductor of the OYS program from its inception until his retirement in July 1998.
The Young Artists Orchestra was founded in 1992 as a developmental ensemble for future Youth Symphony members. YAO is a full orchestra for younger students through grade 9, who have had at least one year of instrumental music instruction.
The Oklahoma Youth Wind Symphony was founded in 1997 to provide expanded opportunities for outstanding wind, brass and percussion players. Membership in the OYWS is drawn from the wind, brass and percussion players of the Youth |
