The Oklahoma Youth Symphonies is proud to have members from throughout all of central Oklahoma. Students from Bethany, Choctaw, Edmond, Enid, Guthrie, Lawton, Marlow, McLoud, Midwest City, Moore, Mustang, Oklahoma City, Stillwater, Tuttle, Warr Acres, Wayne, Wellston, and Yukon participate in the ensembles.
Membership is open by audition to all public, private and homeschool students for the following programs:
Ensembles rehearse on Monday evenings throughout the school year at Southern Nazarene University (SNU) and perform five (5) concerts each season, with additional performances by special request.
The Overture String Orchestra - OSO also rehearses at SNU and will perform two (2) concerts each season.
By offering varied and challenging experiences, the Oklahoma Youth Symphonies program seeks to develop not only the musical talent of Oklahoma's young people, but to encourage their leadership capabilities so they may strengthen their communities and our country in the future. |
